Today I turn 60.
Actually, 60 doesn’t bother me. But the idea that a 70th birthday is less than a dozen years away catches my attention.
I see an Earth that belongs to the Lord in all its fullness! I see a God that set the stage — the Universe — in all of its vastness, splendors, wonders, and I know God made us to question and appreciate it. From all of the supernovas and SMBH’s ( that is, Super Massive Black Holes); down to the dirt beneath our feet and our shoes touching blades of grass. And God made a creature, humans, as like to Himself. Male and female to somehow be like God. Having an intelligence and the ability to question why and how things are. Like a child taking apart a toy watches to see what makes it “tick”; adults still seek how and why.
It’s easy to say that God has been there the whole time. Even times I didn’t realize that He was masterfully crafting people and events: molding me, effecting my internal struggles as I was trying to make sense of life. God who cares for people, all of us, but again singly as the one-and-only individual you are. Remember that during the tough times. God loves you!
In my late teens and 20’s I knew the answers needed for life. Then ambling along in my 30’s, I realized I did not even know all the questions. As time goes on you will see and understand more. Each day is a given blessing with events and happenings to help you to grow. Welcome the growth.
I would tell you younger people to follow your dreams. But do not just fly off on your own, but tether your dreams to reality. And find a confidant or two to share with and obtain guidance from their wisdom.
As you grow older share your experiences and “wisdom”. Seek to be a mentor, although it be tougher than you might passively think it would be. Teach, share the wisdom. Then teach it again. Have patience. Humans are trainable, and we need to guide each other.
Have a Merry Christmas however you celebrate it.
It’s fun to think everybody in the whole world gets a gift on my birthday. 🙂 🙂 🙂
(Not because of me, though).
And a great 2018!
